Let’s face it. We are in the middle of a revolution.
Historians haven’t come up with a name for it yet, but when you read history books in 20 years, you will say, “I was in the middle of that.”
For the purpose of this blog post, I am going to give this period a name:
The E-Commerce Revolution
Almost every other day, I am seeing articles about the closure of brick and mortar stores. Just last week, we heard the big announcement from Wal-Mart – a giant in retail.
Why is this happening? Didn’t all of the teachers in high school tell you to invest in stable companies like Wal-Mart?
These changes are happening because there is a shift in our culture. Technology is no longer the next big thing. It is the big thing and companies that capitalize on that are taking over the marketplace.
This is almost the same scenario that happened around the discovery of the assembly line. We discovered something that made us more efficient and the economy rewarded those who capitalized on the new technology.
That is why 2016 will be amazing for online selling.
The E-Commerce Revolution is in full swing and those of us who are already selling on Amazon are leading the race, but we can’t stop there.
In order to reap the benefits of the E-Commerce Revolution, we have to continue to be ahead of the curve. We have to continue to learn and we have to continue to innovate.
Here are a few ways you can make 2016 your best year yet:
- Expand your sourcing into areas such as liquidation, wholesale, and private label.
- Invest into your business. Find ways to use your money to make money.
- Outsource as much as your business as you can. Focus on what only you can do.
- Start planning for Q4 right now. You will be thankful later.
